Music, Memories & Montana Nights: An Evening of Music, Connection and Purpose
There is something powerful about the connection between music and memory.
A familiar song can bring us back to a person, a place or a moment we thought we had forgotten. For people living with dementia and the families who love them, those moments of connection can be especially meaningful.
This September, music, memory and community will come together for Music, Memories & Montana Nights, a special event featuring country artist and Alzheimer’s advocate Jay Allen.
Hosted by the Montana Gerontology Foundation, the evening will bring our community together for music, connection and a cause that touches so many Montana families.
Meet Jay Allen
For Jay Allen, Alzheimer’s awareness is deeply personal.
Jay’s mother Sherry was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, giving him and his family firsthand experience with the realities of loving someone through the disease.
That experience became the inspiration behind the song “Blank Stares.”
Through his music, Jay found a way to put words to an experience shared by so many families. Since then, he has continued to use his voice and platform to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s and dementia and support organizations working to make a difference.
His advocacy is rooted in something simple but powerful: continuing to see and love the person behind the diagnosis.
That message is one that resonates deeply with the work we do every day.
A Special Visit to Heart to Heart
While Jay is in Montana, we’ll also have the opportunity to welcome him to Heart to Heart Home Care.
Jay has spent time visiting people living with dementia in senior communities across the country, often connecting through music, laughter, conversation, and simply being present.
We’re looking forward to sharing that time with him here in Belgrade and introducing him to some of the people who make Heart to Heart what it is.
Dementia may change memory, but it doesn’t erase the person.
Sometimes connection happens through conversation. Sometimes through a shared laugh, a familiar song, or sitting beside someone for a while.
That is part of what makes Jay’s visit especially meaningful to us.
An Evening With a Purpose
Music, Memories & Montana Nights is a chance to enjoy a great evening while supporting work that matters to families throughout Montana.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Montana Gerontology Foundation, supporting aging adults throughout Montana in times of need including caregiving, end-of-life care, transportation, and special circumstances.
Along with a live concert featuring Jay Allen, the evening will include:
